Chichibu On The Way 2015 release

The Chichibu On The Way is a single malt Japanese whisky composed of a multi vintage vatting of single malts of the best vintages and is part of a special release from their On the Way series. This is limited edition of only 10700 numbered bottles released in 2015 at 55.5% volume. Chichibu is matured in Bourbon cask and finished in Mizunara Oak barrels.

Medium bodied with sweet notes followed by toasted bread, pepper and sandalwood. An outstanding whisky harmoniously balanced with an oily and round texture.

Chichibu Distillery - Japan

The Chichibu Distillery was founded by Ichiro Akuto - grandson of the founder of the now closed Hanyu Distillery. Chichibu became operational in 2008, being the first and smallest Japanese single malt distillery since the Hakushu. The distillery consist of two stills specially design in Scotland by Forsyth’s; their whiskeys are entirely produced at the distillery, the malt is fermented in Mizunara Japanese Oak vats and distilled in small quantities.

The climate in the region is hot and humid in the summer and extremely cold in the winter with temperatures dropping below zero in the evenings and early mornings, ideal for whisky making. The Chichibu Distillery produces fruity and well-balanced whiskeys. The distillery also houses the last stocks of Karuizawa, Kawasaki and Hanyu, and has its own bottling facility.
