Description
Wine judges have marked the new release of 2006 Jacob’s Creek St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon as exceptional, having already collected three trophies and five gold medals at Australian wine shows. It is the most highly awarded vintage of St Hugo since the acclaimed 1996 vintage.
he 2006 St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon shows great regional and varietal expression with concentrated blackberry, cassis and a touch of mint on the palate. This is supported by supple velvety tannins and integrated cedar oak, the latter coming from maturation for up to 24 months in new and one year old French oak barrels, followed by 20 months bottle maturation at the time of its release from the winery earlier this year. The result is a wine
that is delightful drinking now but will reward those who are patient enough to cellar it for the next five to ten years.
St Hugo is recognised as one of the most sought after wines in Australia, reaching a classification of ‘Distinguished’ in the Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine which classifies the best 101 wines according to their collectability and value on the secondary fine wine market. Only wines with history, wines of integrity and wines of immense satisfaction and overall balance are able to capture such attention.
