Description
Of all Islay's whiskies, it is Ardbeg which stands alone as the deepest and most balanced: revered by connoisseurs as something Extraordinary.
Typically most whiskies are chill filtered and reduced to a strength of 40% abv. Ardbeg 10 year old, however, is NON CHILL- FILTERED and has a strength of 46% abv. Thus retaining MAXMIMUM FLAVOUR, at the same time giving more body and added depth. On adding water a little cloudiness may occur whish is PERFECTLY NATURAL and is not a matter for concern.
Nose : Sweet peat, coal, Caramac bars, a faint floral soapy note, pepper and chilli. You know you're in for a treat.
Palate : Very soft, mellow entry, then the spices and peat come through in a big way. Powerful, but with a balancing sweetness. Great length.
Finish : Long and warming, with the smoke and pepper lasting longest.
